"You Are Desperately Needed"

Today the Grandmothers woke me with this message and asked me to send it out. Please forward it on so we reach as many people as possible.

"We ask you to cast, anchor, and hold the Net of Light steady for the Gulf of Mexico," the Grandmothers said. "This crisis is affecting the entire world, and humanity is asleep. Wake up!" they cried. "Animals are dying, plants are dying, and your Mother is writhing in agony. If you hold the Net of Light steady at this time you will help stave off further catastrophe.

"You have been lulled into a false sleep," they said, "told that others (B.P.) will take care of this problem. This is not so," they said. "And this is not the time for you to fall into oblivion. Determine now to stay awake, and once you have made that commitment, think of, cast, and hold the Net of Light. Hold it deep and hold it wide. Amplify its reach to penetrate the waters of the Gulf and dive deep beneath the crust of Mother Earth. Anchor it at the earth's core and as you hold it there, ask it to unify with the mineral kingdom of this planet. It will do this and will harmonize with all the solid and liquid mineral states on earth-including oil and gas. The Net of Light will call these minerals back into harmony. Men have wreaked havoc. They have abused the kingdoms of life on earth for many years, but this time their destruction has reached crisis proportions.

"Whatever human beings have damaged, human beings must correct," the Grandmothers said. "This is the law. We repeat: This is the law. You cannot sit back and ask God to fix the mess humanity has created. Each of you must throw your shoulders to the wheel and work. We are asking for your help. Several years ago we gave you the Net of Light so you would be able to help the earth at times like this. Step forward now. This is the Net of Light that will hold the earth during the times of change that are upon you," they said.

"First move into your heart and call on us. We will meet you there. The Net of Light is lit by the jewel of your heart," they said, "so move into this lighted place within you and open to the Net of which you are a part. Bask in its calming presence. It holds you at the same time that you hold it.

"Now think of magnifying your union with us. We, the Great Council of the Grandmothers, are with you now, and all those who work with the Net of Light are also with you. There are thousands, even millions now connected in light," they said. "Along with this union, call forth the power of the sacred places on earth. These will amplify the potency of our joint effort. Then call on the sacred beings that have come to prevent the catastrophe that threatens to overwhelm your planet. We will work together," they said, nodding slowly.

"Think of, cast and magnify the presence of the Net of Light in the Gulf of Mexico. See, imagine or think of it holding the waters, holding the land, the plants, the sea life, and the people. Holding them all!" they said. "The Net of Light is holding them steady; it is returning them to balance. Let the love within your lighted heart keep pouring into the Net of Light and hold, hold, hold. Calmly and reverently watch as the light from your heart flows along the strands of the Net. It will follow your command and continuously move forth. As soon as you think of it, it will happen. We ask you to practice this for only a few minutes at a time, but to repeat it throughout the day and night.

"We promise that this work with the Net of Light will do untold good," the Grandmothers said. "We are calling you to service now. You are needed. Do not miss this opportunity. We thank you and bless you."

For most of my adult life I have been a mom. Half of that has been spent being a single mom. But I'm not your typical mother by any means!

Gross understatement if there ever was one, I know!

Truth is -- I am not one of these mothers who is a PTA member or who is the first on the scene with baked goods on hand for her kid's bake sales, I don't do car pools and arts & crafts aren't my thing.

I can't remember the last time I went to the beauty shop to get my nails and hair done. In fact, there are days when my hair hasn't been combed or my teeth been brushed -- which is perhaps the only time everyone leaves me alone! My cuticles are torn and raggedy the majority of the time due to me having to be Josephine the Plumber, Harriet the Handy-woman and Mildred the Maid!

I have all sorts of make up ... but rarely apply it. I've come to enjoy the au naturale look now. And though Estee Lauder "Youth Dew" is my favorite perfume, the only scent I sport these days is Suave™ Deodorant.

My normal daily attire no longer consists of neatly pressed shirts, slacks and/or skirts that were perfectly accessorized with pristine jewelry and scarves and the like. These have been replaced by a pair of over sized sweat pants or pajama bottoms, matching equally over sized shirts, a pair of socks and slippers or flip flops--depending on the weather. The only accessory nowadays is a matching scrunchie to keep me from looking like Medusa's bastard sister!

I am not someone who projects a "perfect" home setting 24/7 -- reason being, I don't give a rat's ass what other people think. Unlike my mother whose focus was always on what the neighbors had on their so called minds.

In truth, you won't find any June Cleavers or Donna Reeds types here. My house isn't filthy, just cluttered. Though I do seem to vaguely remember a time when clutter was not part of my home decor. But that was before I became a mom.

Back when my kids were younger ... my house was filled with the usual assortment of the latest action figures, dolls, stuffed animals and TV cartoon characters, videos and games. Couldn't walk through the house without bumping into, stepping on or sitting down on one or the other.

Nothing like pulling one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles out of your ass before you take your first sip of coffee to get your mornings started! Let me tell ya!

Now that my youngest is a teenager, my house is cluttered with books, dirty dishes, shoes and varied articles of clothing that I am constantly reminding her to pick up, put away and/or wash! oy!

I know there are some moms who keep a clutter free clean home. These are the women who are the Martha Stewart graduates. You know the type. Those women who are immaculate and keep the proverbial home fires burning all the while looking like they just stepped out of the beauty parlor as they tote their kids and their kids' friends everywhere, do all the shopping, cooking, gardening, not miss one PTA meeting or school event, run some auxillary, oversee some bake and/or rummage sale, volunteer and what have you. Yea real Stepford Wives-like.

I do admit that I sometimes suspect they are all related to that chick on Bewitched!.

Don't get me wrong! I don't envy these women, I just want to know where in the hell do they have the time and energy???!!!!!

Now once upon a time -- B.T.C.C. (before the children came) -- I was a young, beautiful, intelligent and some might even go as far as saying -- sane -- woman.

I am still considered beautiful. And though I am no longer young -- I am young at heart and in mind. I will be turning 50 this year--and my mind still thinks it's 16 yrs old!!! Of course, my body reminds me constantly it isn't. Especially when I am faced with a flight of stairs!

I am still intelligent ...but only when my memory doesn't fail me. I'm pretty sure I had a photogenic memory once. But it appears I forgot to replace the film one too many times over the years.

The good news, I do remember the good times I had over the 20 plus years I have been a mother.

Though I don't remember much, if anything, of my life before becoming a mom -- the photographs in my family album tell me I did in fact had one!

Many years ago, when my oldest son was about 11 years old, he, his grandmother and I were flipping through an old family album at his grandmother's house. He spotted a picture of a beautiful young woman with perfectly coiffed hair, dressed in a blue velvet evening gown, wisps of curls brushed across her bare milky white shoulders as she sat upon an oval Queen Ann styled chair, posed in an elegant queenly fashion. My son gasped as he gazed at the picture and exclaimed: "who's the babe?" To which my mother replied with a laugh ... "that babe is your mother!" Naturally my son stared at me and asked ... "What happened to you?"

Smart Ass! Don't know where he gets it!

The photographs aren't the only reminders of a life I had once upon a time.

The worn out sneakers and various tee shirts, jeans and capris that are aligned next to my business suits, party dresses and stiletto heels remind me of the woman I had once been and the woman I am now. The beautiful jewelry and scarves that line the top of my dresser help jog my memory of those days before becoming a mommy.

I seem to recall times when I got excited over the latest fashion. Now my excitement stems from finding the latest new fangled box of detergent on sale or when I find a color of a roll of duct tape I don't yet have. Sad, but true!

There was a time I got all gussied up to attend some fashionable gatherings with adults. Now the only gatherings I attend where there are actual adults are school field trips and the weekly jaunt to the local grocers and malls. Getting gussied up these days means I put on a clean shirt and some pants that aren't sweats or pjs.

With respect to my sanity. Well, that is an issue best left for the courts to decide I suppose. There are days I am certain I am crazier than a horse fly trying to land on a pile of freshly made manure. Times Where clarity, reality and the totally bizarre all seem to be the same exact thing.

Most often than not, I can barely remember what I went in the next room for or where I laid my glasses only to discover that they were still on my face. Caring what others think was never an issue with me, but now ... it's even less of an issue as I can barely remember who any of "those people" are!

According to my children, this makes me crazy. And they should know! After all they know everything!

I don't regret becoming a mother. Even when my kids are all conspiring to either send me to the looney bin or to an early grave (or both!)! Being a mom has been, and continues to be, one of my greatest and most favorite adventures.

If anyone were to ask what the best part of being a mother is ... my reply would be ...

Just as all the women before me, being a mom insures the legacy of lunacy we all call motherhood will continue on for generations to come. And in the end I, like all those other mothers of generations past, will have the last laugh!

Because I know, as they knew, that for all the freeze dried bullshit my kids put me through -- my sons and my daughter will have the task of raising children who were worse than them!

It is obviously a slow news day today because all you are hearing about is Carrie Prejean.

For those of you who do not know who Ms. Prejean is ... She is Miss California and a Miss America contestant who openly and publicly stated she was against gay marriages.

BIG deal! She's against gay marriages! So she isn't entitled to her opinion? To her views and beliefs?

While I don't agree with Ms. Prejean, I do support her point of view and right to express it.

It's perfectly okay to disagree with someone. But do we have to be nasty and hateful while doing it?

Why can't the woman have an opinion? And why does some individuals in the media find it perfectly okay to make her look bad in order to prove their point?

Take Perez Hilton. PLEASE! (*LOL*) Chez Perez didn't exactly handle Ms. Prejean's views very well. In fact, he, as well as many in the media and in the gay community, are actually hurting the cause with their bashing of Ms. Prejean.

I'm all for voicing an opinion. But do you have to tear someone else down while doing it?

I learned the hard way this isn't how you get your point across. And it certainly isn't how you encourage others to see things your way.

Now with respect to Gay marriage. I really don't see a problem with it. In fact, I believe they should be allowed to be married and that that marriage be acknowledged and accepted by the state. Plain & simple.

All marriages performed in a church are civil ceremonies. They have to be legalized by the state it is held in. Marriages performed in church are just for show and nothing more.

Anybody remember 'separation of Church & State'?

Someone actually stated that 'God' doesn't acknowledge a marriage outside church. Well perhaps their god doesn't. And that's cool! But what if you are a Buddhist or a Muslim or a Pagan? What about atheists?

What about all those folks who got married out in a park or under the water or while sky diving? hmmmm?

I think you get my point.

And I just have to ask. Why should gays be denied all the joys and bliss of getting married and, god/goddess forbid, should the time come, be denied all the pain and agony of divorce?

The way I see it, divorce lawyers, marriage counselors, wedding planners, reception halls, etc. are missing out on a golden opportunity! Lots of money to made here!

Talk about stimulating the economy! Whoa Nelly!

I find it shameful that a gay couple, two human beings who love each other and are devoted to each other, be denied to take care of each other in the same manner as a heterosexual couple.

At the same time, I find it painfully shameful that people in general cannot be gracious enough to respect other's opinions. Especially and particularly if that opinion differs from your own.

Again, while I do not agree with Ms. Prejean's views and opinions, I will defend her right to have them and express them.

And as far as Perez Hilton, et.al is concerned ... they would do well to pick up a copy of Dale Carnegie's best seller How To win Friends & Influence People and start applying it's principles.

It has helped me (not to mention countless others) in finding a much better way of handling differences of opinions.

Speaking from experience, it's better to be thought a fool ... than open your mouth and remove all doubt!

2009 Challenge: Say NO To Fear!

I am challenging everyone to do something different in 2009.

Say NO to Fear!

Take Five Minutes each and every day for one month and focus all your attention, all your energies into saying NO TO FEAR!

That's it! That's the Challenge!

Think I'm kidding? Well, I'm not!

We all have seen what focusing on fear can do and has done in times past. Now, I am standing up and challenging each and every person reading this to take that focus and use it to make a positive difference!

I am not going to bore you with all the statistics and data collected on what positive thinking can do and has done. You know all that information already. And if you don't ... then my suggestion is that you GOOGLE it and see for yourself the endless testimonies of people who have used positive thinking. It's out there.

It is a well known fact that the mind is the most powerful tool we humans have at our disposal.

Group consciousness is a fact of life. If we collectively focus five minutes of time on rejecting fear no matter what that fear is ... we will collectively reap great rewards.

Taking FIVE MINUTES a day each and every day for 30 days rejecting Fear in all it's forms.

Think about the possibilities. Think of the wondrous things this small act will bring to not only YOU personally ... but to the world itself.

But don't just take my word for it ... Try it for your self!

What do you have to lose? Seriously? What do you have to lose by focusing on rejecting fear for five minutes a day?

He Sent Me Flowers Today

Many of you may remember the following article from Ann Landers and Dear Abby years ago. It continues to be in circulation through-out the internet today.

The words spoken are simple, yet profound. And unfortunately, it still applies even today.

He Sent Me Flowers Today

We had our first argument last night, and he said a lot of cruel things that really hurt me. I know he is sorry and didn't mean the things he said, because he sent me flowers today.

I got flowers today. It wasn't our anniversary or any other special day. Last night he threw me against a wall and started to choke me. It seemed like a nightmare, I could n't believe it was real. I woke up this morning sore and brused all over. I know he must be sorry cause he sent me flowers today.

I got flowers today, and it wasn't Valentine's Day or any other special day. Last night, he beat me up again, it was much worse than all the other times.

If I leave him, what will I do? How will I take care of my kids? What about money? I'm afraid of him and scared to leave. But I know he must be sorry because he sent me flowers today.

I got flowers today. Today was a very special day. It was the day of my funeral.

Last night, he finally killed me. He beat me to death.

If only I had gathered enough courage to leave him, I would not have gotten flowers today.
